Supporting Small Businesses This Holiday Season
With Christmas right around the corner, it’s no surprise that holiday shopping is top-of-mind for everyone. For those of us who work in digital marketing, this time is crucial to meet sales goals and drive business forward heading into 2023. I suppose it is no surprise that the social media marketer’s favorite carol is “always be selling.”
But, that’s not what I want to talk about today. I want to take a step back from sales, metrics, and trends to talk about why I do my job… Small Businesses.
Small business owners truly are superheroes. Not only are they the backbone of our nation’s economy, but they show up day-after-day to go above and beyond in every aspect of their company. Human resources, accounting, supply chain management, public relations, etc. — You name it. They do it.
And, they do all of this while balancing their lives as partners, parents, siblings, friends, volunteers, artists, inventors, clinicians, chefs, creators, and more. Can our good friend Jeffrey Bazos say all that?
So, this holiday season, I want to encourage everyone out there to support local, small businesses. And, if you need a little help doing that, I have a list of ways you can help!
Shop local, either online or in-person
Order takeout or delivery from a local restaurant
Attend concerts, theater performances, art shows, craft fairs, etc.
Reach out to local artists and photographers for help with your holiday cards
Leave a positive review of a small business online
Click ‘share’ on a small business’ latest social media post
Sign up for a small business’ email newsletters
No act is too small.
