Avoiding Burnout: 3 Tips for Social Media Self-Care
Okay, deep breath. How are you really doing? Stressed? In desperate need of “unplugging” from the online world? No matter what, you’re not alone.
In the last year the workforce has become exceedingly virtual. Even with many businesses returning to work in-person, screen time across the board has risen, with Facebook and Instagram seeing a 40% increase in usage.
With most of us spending extra time on our devices, we thought we'd share our tips to help you protect your mental health and bring purpose to your scrolling!
Tip #1 Monitor Your Screen Time and Set Limits
Did you know that the average internet user spends around 6 hours and 43 minutes online each day?!
With an iPhone, you can track and monitor the time you spend on each platform and even set a time limit for using apps like Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. You’ll be notified when that time is about to run out, and you’ll be reminded to give the app a rest.
Tip #2 Remember to Take Regular Breaks From Your Desktop
Using a web browser extension like Stand Up! Timer can give you a friendly nudge to step away from your desk, get a glass of water, or have a chat with co-workers.
Our team likes to change things up by working from the couches, co-working in the conference rooms, or taking a lunchtime break at Fred Fletcher Park!
Tip #3 Control Your Social Media Feeds
Remember: You are in control of your feed! And just like how you can unfollow any accounts that make you feel bad, it’s important to add in some accounts that make you feel good too.
Some of our team’s favorite accounts to fill our feeds with good vibes are @thehappynewspaper, @sunnybloominspiration, and @itsdougthepug!
